There’s a certain type of well-discerning lady whose inner romantic flashlight will flick on at the mention of the name Darcy. When I was taught ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in English my teacher would get a faraway, glazed look at any mention of Fitzwilliam Darcy in the book. She would sigh and heave at her bosom in a pique of romantic compulsion.
I have the same reaction when I hear vocal rounds so you can imagine the faraway, glazed look in my eyes as I stumbled across this odd-pop gem this morning.

Mermaids sometimes sing to people and gods and enchant them, distracting them from their work and causing them to walk off the deck or run their ships into the shore. Other stories depict them squeezing the life out of drowning men while attempting to rescue them. They are also said to carry humans down to their underwater kingdoms and seduce them with their silvery bodies.
